KidsChatNZ

Today as part of our kids chat we had a challenge: build a tower out of only newspaper, cello tape, 10sticks and 2 plates. We were leaning about teamwork and working together. Then we went to the computer suite to Tweet to other schools who had done the same!!

Shhhhh

Tomorrow Leila comes back from winning the world title for BMX racing for the second year in a row. As a school we are going to surprise her with a celebration in the morning. We have been asked to all wear New Zealand colours (Black and White).

Today we joined with Rimu class and watch Mr Holts partner, Nikki race in the 1500m track race at the commonwealth games! We even saw Mr Holt on the the TV. She did very well and came 5th place

Commonwealth Games

Today we looked at some of the 54 countries in the commonwealth. We each chose a country that we will follow and learn a little about! Ask us what counting we used!!

Keeping fit

As part of our commonwealth games challenge we had to use balloons to hit move around. First we could only used our heads, then feet, then elbows!! We didn't notice but we actually ran around a lot! We now have a bronze medal. One of this weeks challenges is to have packet free lunches

Maori Language Week Celebration

To celebrate out Maori Language week today we made some Kai - food! We made Maori Fried Bread with jam! We heard the oil sizzle and came up with lots of describing words such as delicious, divine, tasty. We sung Maori songs as we waited for them to cool down. Maori language week

This week is Maori Language week! We have been learning lots of new phrases and words in Maori. Today we practised asking where something is. We had a pretend aparo (Apple) and we had to put it runga (on) Raro (under) roto (inside) or waho ( outside)

Geometry

This term we have started off Maths with Geometry! We learnt about the edges, faces and vertices of a 3D object today and had to find the right one drawn on the mat! For homework on Mathletics this week we have some similar questions and a test! Can't wait to see how we all go!!
